No kind and tender mother To ease his aching head. He lingered on one day and night Till death did ease his pain. His voice was hushed forever; He never will speak again.
7 They put him in his coffin, And fitted him for the gra-e
While brothers and sisters mourned the loss
Of a brother so young and brave.
Cut down in his manhood beauty,
His life had scarce begun,
And everyone that knew him knows
He's gone to his lasting home.
8 Now the springtime will return again, Will wake this big domain,
While the litde birds on the leafy boughs
Sing sweetly once again.
While brothers, sisters may rejoice
The love he fondly gave,
By planting wreaths of flowers

1 Twas in the township of Arcade, In the county of Lapeer There stood a litde shingle mill, It ran about one year. *Twas where this cruel deed was done Caused many to weep and wail; 'Twas where this young man lost his life, His name was Harry Bail.
